Henri Matisse, "Bathers by a River"
The Art Institute of Chicago is showing a blockbuster exhibit which includes some of Henri Matisse's most important paintings, "Matisse: Radical Invention, 1913-1917." Some of these works have never been together in the same show and many of the paintings underwent conservation treatments before the exhibit; darkened varnishes were removed and the colors brightened in the process. Included on the site is a video overview of the exhibit featuring the curator. The exhibition ends June 20.
